What Is An FQHC?

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) like Aspire Indiana Health are nonprofit providers designed to meet the medical needs of underserved populations. They must meet the rigorous government standards to accept Medicaid and Medicare. FQHCs specialize in providing improved access, coordinated care and enhanced patient/family involvement.

  • Women’s health visits  
  • Medicare wellness visits  
  • Common illnesses (flu, cold, etc.)  
  • Acute health needs (e.g., bronchitis, sinusitis)  
  • Chronic health needs (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure)  
  • Hepatitis C and HIV testing/case management  
  • PreP treatment  
  • Blood draws

In-office quick tests (e.g., strep testing):  

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)  
  • Commercial driver’s license physicals (CDL)


In office testing capability includes:

  • Accu-Chek (blood sugar check)  
  • Pregnancy testing  
  • Microalbumin urine testing (testing for protein in the urine)  
  • Streptococcal testing (strep throat)  
  • Hemoccult (testing for blood in stool)  
  • Urine dip (testing for infection or blood in urine)  
  • Flu (testing for influenza during flu season)
