Speicher honored as IBJ CTO of the Year

Aspire Indiana Health Chief Technology Officer David Speicher has been honored by the Indianapolis Business Journal as a “CTO of the Year.” This is the second time he has been named to the annual list of prestigious business technology leaders.

Speicher was named as an Honoree in the category for Not-for-Profits and Government. Read IBJ’s profile story here.

During the past year, Speicher’s leadership bore the fruit of a bold vision he laid out several years ago to shift Aspire to an entirely cloud-based technology platform. Nearly every one of the nonprofit healthcare provider’s 750 employees has a company-issued device that allows them to work securely from most anywhere. Speicher’s team turned off their last server a few months ago.

When pandemic struck, Aspire was able to quickly pivot from in-office services to telehealth delivery using Video in Person (ViP) appointments. As a result, Aspire was able to continue nearly all healthcare activity uninterrupted with no significant dip in services provided or revenue, and no employee layoffs, imposed furloughs or reductions in hours.

“People used to ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?’ Now they see what we’ve accomplished and ask, ‘How did you do this?’” Speicher said. “I’m extremely proud of my team and humbled by this recognition from the IBJ.”

Speicher was named IBJ’s 2016 CTO of the Year Honoree for non-profit organizations and routinely speaks at conferences such as MHCA, Open Minds, INSPN, Indiana Chamber, and Google Road Shows. He holds a bachelor's degree from Purdue University in Computer and Electrical Engineering Technology.
