Aspire updates masking policy for patients and staff

By Christopher Lloyd

Based on the latest COVID medical guidance, Aspire Indiana Health is updating its policy on masking and social distancing inside its health centers.

Patients who are vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks upon entering Aspire clinic locations. Medical staff will continue to wear masks during primary care appointments with patients. Waiting rooms no longer need to be socially distanced.

Masks should still be worn at Aspire health centers by people who are:

  • Not fully vaccinated
  • Immunocompromised
  • Experiencing respiratory symptoms
  • Have had a known COVID-19 exposure or positive test within the last 10 days

Anyone who prefers to continue to wear a mask is encouraged to do so.

Masking and social distance requirements will also be discontinued for vaccinated personnel and residents at Aspire group home and administration facilities. Unvaccinated staff and residents in all locations are still required to wear masks and socially distance.

This updated policy is based on the recommendations of the Aspire Infection Control Committee and guidance from the federal Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). It could be changed if there is an increase in COVID cases, exposures, etc.
