This June, we’ll be sending our best wishes and thanks to our President and CEO, Rich DeHaven, who is retiring this year. Rich has devoted his 45-year career to creating new services and improved opportunities for individuals with mental and substance use disorders, as well as other disadvantaged populations.

Rich is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He became one of Indiana’s first certified Mental Health Administrators when the Association of Mental Health Administrators initiated certification. He was one of the original members of, and for many years served on, the Indiana Mental Health Planning Council, is past-president of the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers, has served on the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Corporations of America and is past treasurer of its subsidiary, Mental Healthcare America.

There are many accolades and honors that Rich has received during his career. He recently received the Sagamore of the Wabash; an award given by the governor to a few, select, individuals who have had exemplary careers. Among those who have received Sagamores have been astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists, musicians, politicians and citizens who have contributed greatly to "Hoosier" heritage.

Rich never forgets a name, a story, or a kindness. He has a wonderful family and two beautiful twin granddaughters. He has friends everywhere he goes and more connections to the communities in which he has lived and work than most anyone could imagine. What a legacy he has built!

Certainly, the legacy of Rich’s career is right here, at Aspire. Starting with a small clinic and a mission to help those who are suffering from mental illness, addiction, and homelessness, Aspire is now an organization with over 500 employees, and there will be many more to come in the future. We, all the employees of Aspire Indiana, will continue with Rich’s vision and mission to make a difference in the lives of others.

Rich, we wish you the very best as you begin to enjoy fully all the fruits of your labor in this part of your life. We hope you love every minute of it and we thank you for what you have given to all of us.

Aspire would like to invite friends and colleagues to Rich’s retirement celebration on Thursday, June 29th from 4-6:30pm at Saxony Hall, 13362 Pennington Rd., Fishers, IN. 46037.
