Barbara Scott Takes the Helm at Aspire!
On July 1, 2017, Barbara Scott became the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Aspire Indiana. Barb hit the ground running in her new role as Aspire enters a new era.
Barb has served as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer for the past 20 years and earned the additional title of Executive Vice President in 2009, when Aspire Indiana was formed from the merger of the Center for Mental Health and BehaviorCorp. She has been an instrumental force in Aspire’s movement toward becoming an integrated healthcare provider, and has also led the charge in implementing Aspire’s innovative and successful programs that address the social determinants of health for those we serve.
Barb says, “I am excited to be serving Aspire in a new role. This is now my 8th position within the organization over the last 30 years! I thank Rich DeHaven for preparing me and I thank staff and the Aspire Board of Directors for accepting me. I am so proud to be part of an institution that has served its communities for over 40 years. My intention is to approach my new position with my feet firmly planted in our rich tradition and my eyes seeing new perspectives for our future!”
Barb’s first weeks as President and CEO have been a flurry of activities aimed at connecting with the Aspire community. She has launched a weekly video series entitled “Reaching High Performance Together” that will keep staff up to date on Aspire’s goals, activities, and initiatives. A new video will be released every Monday and all of the videos will be archived and available on the Aspire Intranet under the “Information” menu.
In addition, Barb will regularly visit the many Aspire locations and will work diligently to keep everyone up to date and connected. Barb’s main priorities are achieving high performance as an organization, providing whole health care for those we serve, and becoming a Best Place to Work. Her door is always open!
Welcome and Congratulations, Barb!
Changes in Aspire’s Executive Leadership

New President and CEO Barbara Scott says she expanded Aspire’s leadership to better meet our new high performance goals. New positions include Chief Technical Officer David Speicher and Chief Clinical Officer Jody Horstman. Janey Trout’s role has been elevated to Vice President, Human Resources and Marketing and Jim Skeel is now Vice President, Quality.
